Physical Security Consultant
This position is responsible for providing consultation to ABS Consulting clients on physical security matters using their own Subject Matter Expertise (SME), industry accepted standards, guidelines, and/or government requirements, where applicable. Clients may include private sector companies and/or government or quasi-governmental agencies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (PDR)
Ability to analyze security vulnerability assessments and site security plans, to write assessments and other reports, and to assist the client with tasks as an SME.
Experience with preparing plans, reports, presentations, other high-level work products.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management, other SMEs, private sector “C-level” representatives (e.g., Chief Executives, Chief Operations Officers, and Chief Security Officers). Also, experience working with U.S. Federal regulatory agency personnel is beneficial.
Relevant, accredited, board certifications in the security management, physical security, or homeland security domains. The ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certifications are strongly desired.
Some travel may be necessary.
A background investigation is required, and this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level clearance. Other background checks/clearances may be required depending on the requirements of a particular client or assignment.
Current Secret-level clearance is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (KSAR)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as risk management, intelligence analysis, security management, terrorism studies, infrastructure protection, homeland security, or other related fields. Mechanical or civil engineering degree strongly preferred.
Candidate must have 5 or more years of experience with physical security in industry or government.
Candidate must be able to train on established physical security standards.
Demonstrated experience with infrastructure protection within the Federal, state, or local governments, military, or private sectors.
Conducting and/or evaluating threat and vulnerability analyses.
Developing and/or implementing mitigation recommendations related to security threats, including cost/benefit analysis.
Designing and/or evaluating physical security plans to protect critical infrastructure.
Experience selecting, integrating implementing and maintaining physical security system hardware (CCTV, ACS, IDS, Barriers, response & mitigation) in a commercial and public sector environment is desired.
Other experience with physical security risk mitigation activities that may include transnational or domestic counterterrorism activities, intelligence analysis, and/or compliance-related activities associated with the Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards, Department of Defense requirements, Department of Energy requirements, Nuclear Regulatory Commission Standards, Interagency Security Committee Standards, Department of Transportation, Transportation Security Agency, Department of State or other related standards or requirements.
