HP Inc. Senior Mechanical Engineer in Austin, Texas

We have an opportunity for a new team member who's a recognized authority in Mechanical Engineering for personal computers or consumer electronic devices. The engineer will apply advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex issues and will frequently contribute to the development of new ideas and methods. They'll lead and/or provide expertise to functional project teams and provide direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops architectures and methodologies for mechanical subsystem design, thermal design, and development of PC systems in multiple form factors.

  • Influences strategic supplier selection on solutions that enable differentiated products for HP product programs including clamshell notebook, pull-forward, and x2 devices.

  • Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships; creates plans for integration into future HP products.

  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates suggestions, updates, and innovations into overall architectures and design processes.

  • Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership and outsourced development partners.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of design and development innovation and excellence.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Typically 10+ years experience developing and managing complex assemblies.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in mechanical engineering design and delivery for PC clients or consumer electronics.

  • Excellent MCAD skills, experience with TDD methodologies a plus. CREO/Solidworks a plus.

  • MCAD/ECAD data management experience.

  • Demonstrated history of innovation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English

  • Ability to effectively communicate product design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
