Lead Engineer – Bogie Brake will play the key role of owning the technical responsibility of Brake sub system design and development by demonstrating deep understand of existing technology and utilizes to meet customer specifications.

Essential Responsibilities

• Interdependently lead the design, development and application of friction Brake products partnering with cross-functional teams for locomotives /metros/ wagons following robust Engineering Process.

• Support the infield validation / commissioning / reliability resolution with sense of urgency.

• Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and Wabtec specifications while proactively working in a global team setup.

• Must lead multiple projects by adhering to Wabtec processes while meeting business standards and program / product requirements.

• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and utilize same for future reference & standardization.

• Carry the product lifecycle ownership and continually learn.

• Represents the Bogie Brake team in cross functional setup for technical decisions/ directions.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelors /master’s degree in mechanical / Production / Structural /Automotive Engineering with 5-8 years of engineering design experience.

Desired Characteristics

• Deep technical understanding and capabilities in Friction brake design and related tools for brake and thermal calculations, FEA, Catia and equivalent etc.

• Proven record on Engineering Design / Execution/ Validation/ Field support in areas of friction braking

• Must have exceptional interpersonal skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams to drive the decisions.

• Must have experience with kinematics of friction brakes, thermo-mechanical interactions, casting, fabrication, bearings selection, bolted joints, GD&T, Friction brake and Electric/ Pneumatic interface understanding.

• Good understanding of rail standards such as AAR, EN, RGS, UIC, APTA, IR etc.

• Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong technical leadership skills. Ability to work independently. Strong problem-solving skills.
