Job Overview:

A Recreation Assistant is responsible for helping with physical, educational or social activities in a variety of settings. The Recreation Assistant aids residents or patients with the use of equipment, and planning and monitoring their participation in various activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or Equivalency

• Must be able to run scheduled programs with minimal supervision of Director and in the Director s absence

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a long-term care setting

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, 8:00 4:00pm each day

• Monday-Friday

• FT

Essential Functions:

• Assists with planning of Monthly calendars and newsletters to communicate to residents, staff and family members time and location for all activities on assigned floor/ units

• Making daily rounds introducing self to all new residents on assigned floor, assessing residents needs psychological, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive

• Has specific area for decorating facility to enhance seasons holidays themes and parties

• Attends and participates in meetings relevant to residents care and facility practices

• Escorts residents to monthly resident council meetings and assists Director with meeting
