Stryker's Sports Medicine business is focused on minimally invasive and open approaches to the shoulder, knee, hip, and small joints.

As Lead Software Engineer (m/f/d) on our Sports Medicine team, you will play a key role in designing advanced features as well as setting technical direction for our software platform for digital hip preservation solutions. As technology lead on the project, you will be collaborating with other functions such as project managers, quality engineers and software test engineers as well as with technology leaders of adjacent platforms. You will implement new functionalities and lead software engineers on the project team in their implementation work. You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing existing features to ensure that they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead and support product development for cross-functional teams, setting technical direction and making architecture choices. Take technical ownership of the existing software platform and guide software engineers in their implementation work.

  • Software System Development: Design and develop software (C++ for Windows desktop applications) in accordance with project requirements, defined architecture and quality requirements.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively in international and cross-functional teams as well as with technology leaders from adjacent projects.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement design and process improvements. Maintain and evolve the existing software platform.

What are we looking for?

  • Based on a Bachelor or Master Degree in the field of computer science, software engineering or comparable, you have 5+ years of professional experience in software development with C++ in combination with Qt, ideally in a regulated industry.

  • You like working with development tools such as Visual Studio, Git, CI-/CD-pipelines and issue trackers.

  • You are experienced in all phases of the software development life cycle including requirements definition, design, implementation and V&V.

  • Ideally, you have experience in computer vision and computational geometry and have a strong interest in these topics.

  • Your experience in html, CSS and JavaScript is a plus.

  • Your excellent english communication skills make it easy for you to communicate in an international environment with different levels and establish and maintain long-term strategic partnerships.

Additional information

Thanks to our flexible working hours model, you will have the opportunity to work partially from the home office. A regular presence on site at our location in Freiburg should always be given to build sustainable relationships and maintain personal contact with colleagues as well as the departments.
