Position Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the revenue accounting activity for lease revenue of KMCO2. The accounting transactions will be completed in accordance with KM revenue accounting policies and procedures and Sarbanes Oxley audit requirements.

Essential duties and responsibilities :

  • Responsible for all lease revenue accounting activities including volume verification, allocations, invoicing of product sales, contract price confirmation, and product settlement to asset interest owners.

  • Income Statement review of monthly revenue results and variance analysis.

  • Work closely with operations, marketing, and other revenue accountants to review and confirm operational changes and product marketing arrangements.

  • Respond to Unit working interest owners and royalty settlement inquiries.

  • Ensure all royalty payments issued in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Perform monthly royalty settlement through company accounting systems including Enertia and Lawson.

  • Prepare and review invoices for product / fee transactions accurately and within contract compliance.

  • Resolve discrepancies timely, and ensure timely payment and or cash receipts.

  • Maintenance of accurate accounting files as prescribed by KM’s record retention policy and Sarbanes Oxley controls.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly revenue settlement files and reconciliations.

  • Fimilar with Federal Royalty regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Perform monthly state payments and analysis.

    Position Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

Education: BS / BA in Accounting

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Lease Revenue Accounting

  • Proven strong analytical experience working with variance analysis explanations and understanding of marketing/operational impacts to accounting transactions.

  • Self-starter on new assignments

  • Ability to make recommendations to upper management for process improvement

  • Experience with Enertia and Lawson accounting systems preferred.

    Competencies, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of lease revenue accounting

  • Strong working knowledge and analytical skills Excel skills. The role is expected to work with multiple Excel files on a daily basis.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent reconciliation / research skills

  • Multi-tasking capabilities

  • Detail oriented / task oriented

  • Strong organizational skills
