What You’ll Be Doing:

The Principal Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in building transformative gen AI platforms and products across the entire Lilly value chain: drug discovery, research, manufacturing, go-to-market, and general knowledge work. As part of the Software Product Engineering organization, you will provide technical leadership and contribution to our cutting-edge AI platform.

How You’ll Succeed:

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, promoting best practices and fostering a collaborative and delivery-oriented environment.

• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Gen AI platforms and products, with a focus on scalability and performance.

• Work with product and technical architect to drive forward the AI platform understanding requirements and ensuring they translate into technical deliverables.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and business stakeholders

Your Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

• 8+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, JS, Go and experience with Kubernetes with experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and natural language processing libraries.

• 5+ years of machine learning principles and techniques, including deep learning, recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and transformer models.

• 5+ years of software engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

• Up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements in the life sciences and AI domains.

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field

• Proficiency in Python with understanding of async, streaming and other concepts.

• Experience in the life sciences or regulated industries is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with AI, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models is a plus.

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Additional Information:

• Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $121,500 to $195,800 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
