Boehringer Ingelheim Global Medical Affairs Lead for Therapeutic Areas in Ingelheim, Germany

The Position

The Global Medical Affairs Lead – TA is a dynamic, strategic, and experienced medical leader for one of the following therapeutic areas (TA): Cardiovascular Renal Metabolic (CRM); CNS, Retinopathies and Emerging Areas (CREA); Inflammation or Oncology.

The main objective of the role is to continuously develop the way we bring medicines to patients by ensuring excellent cross TA medical affairs capabilities, competencies, and performance.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As a strategic partner, you will ensure excellence in leading implementation of GMA-led cross-asset/disease/ TA skills, capabilities, and deliverables in the therapeutic area.

  • You will lead the interface between the Therapeutic Area and Global Medical Affairs (GMA) as single point of contact on a strategic level - in partnership with GMA members and the Head of GMA.

  • Furthermore, you will lead the interface between GMA and key countries together with our Regional Medical Managers (RMMs), country leaders, country team members and GMA LT members.

  • As part of the GMA leadership team, you will bring the GMA perspective for TA to the cross-TA forums (e.g. Asset Evidence Plans Panel) and demonstrate strategic leadership through clear impact on strategic direction, medical affairs plans and deliverables.

  • In addition, you will ensure timely and aligned GMA contributions to asset medical affairs plans and ensure full GMA support for excellent execution – this will include fostering seamless exchange and collaboration with cross-functional partners

Requirements

  • PhD or MD in Medicine, Pharmacy or Natural Sciences with longstanding professional experience in medical affair roles within the pharmaceutical industry

  • Deep understanding of medical affairs with a focus on utilization of diverse data to demonstrate value, clinical adoption, scientific communication, healthcare system partnerships and early medical affairs engagement

  • Deep expertise in the TA including design and execution of clinical trials and other methods for evidence generation, medical communications, stakeholder engagement and development and execution of medical affairs plans

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of medical affairs processes, policies, and communications

  • Collaborative leadership skills, successfully proven in project team settings, and proven ability to deliver results

  • Excellent communication, strong self-motivation and networking skills as well as the ability to work independently in a highly complex field

  • Fluency in English – written and spoken
