Karl Senner, LLC is hiring a Maritime Electrical Application Engineer

We are seeking an experienced marine electrical application engineering professional to lead our electrical integration efforts for new construction, retrofits/repowers, and service to vessels. Critical to have maritime industry experience in marine power management, integration, and distribution.

  • Represent an industry leading marine propulsion product line and provide leadership for electrical integration efforts for new construction, retrofits/repowers, and service for diesel electric, ESS-battery electric power systems, and electro- mechanical hybrid vessels.
  • Participate in preparation of system designs, proposals, technical specifications, sourcing and integration of components and systems.
  • Passion for the Maritime Industry is a must as well as industry experience in marine electric power generation, electrical distribution, motor controls, variable speed drives/motors, transformers, and automation systems.
  • Some travel required to develop and maintain positive relationships while providing technical in-house support for projects.

What will you do in this role?

  • Provide highest quality and best value product and systems solutions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the products and services Karl Senner, LLC offers to effectively develop marine electrical projects from conception to completion.
  • Participate in preparation of proposals and scope development to include execution plans, project cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Utilize strong time and project management skills to foster relationships and provide engineering support for customers, naval architects, equipment vendors, shipyards, classification agencies throughout the life cycle of assigned projects.
  • Maintain excellent administrative organizational skills to ensure projects milestones are being achieved.
  • Develop standards, functions, and materials to create test procedures for equipment and systems. Utilizing this information to prepare installation/operation manuals, technical reports, engineering operating procedures, specifications, and standards documentation for equipment and systems.
  • Travel to potential and existing customers to develop and maintain positive relationships while providing technical support for projects to include overnight travel, occasional nights, and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities you bring to the table:

  • Ability to lead specification analyses with strong technical writing to specify sources and build systems as needed with trusted manufacturing partners.
  • Self- motivated to work independently and driven to implement and analyze designs for electrical power systems.
  • High level of integrity with a strong work ethic and positive attitude to persevere through challenges, meet commitments, and stay focused under pressure.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance with exceptional communication, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of marine electrical and classification standards and practices from primary propulsion systems, diesel engines, battery and hybrid systems, and auxiliary loads.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical challenges requiring adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Knowledge of vessel power systems (generation and energy storage systems), distribution gear, electric propulsion, variable speed drives, AC motors, vessel automation, and overall vessel system power design requirements.

Experience and Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Bachelors degree in Ele trical or Marine Engineering from an accredited university, Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure, preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in maritime engineering or service of marine electrical systems and equipment.
  • Familiar with maritime regulatory environment and submittal processes, shipboard systems operation and design requirements, shipyard practices, and contract specifications.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD, MS Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
  • Authorized to work in the US, valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to obtain a TWIC card.
