We are currently looking for a highly competent Commodity Market Research Manager based in Global Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In this position, you will be responsible for developing packaging commodity markets insight by gathering news and data and analyzing them to produce forward-looking research. The focus will be on base materials markets. In addition, you will be supporting the purchasing team in building their strategy.

Located in hubs in Switzerland, Panama and Malaysia, our division provides a range of services, including the management of procurement for specific raw materials, packaging, indirect materials and other services. We also support markets with managing local spend. What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Build detailed fundamental supply and demand database and models for packaging base metals categories

  • Monitor key macroeconomic and category specific indicators

  • Support the procurement teams in defining the purchasing strategy of a specific category

  • Produce regular reports and ad hoc analysis based on market developments

  • Leverage data analytics to automatize market updates and price models.

  • Present data and findings to internal stakeholders

What is required?

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics. A Master’s degree is a strong asset.

  • Prior experience, notably in packaging base metals (metals, plastics) and energy research in banks, trading house or producers

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills and strong knowledge of:

  • MS Excel and Power Point

  • Previous experience in building commodity forecasting (econometric) models.

  • Interactive Data Visualization tools (Power BI) is a plus.

  • Programming (Python, SQL, Java or C++ is a plus) is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.
