About the role

Our Environment & Geosciences team provides strategic and practical solutions to clients with environmental management challenges. We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to work on projects predominantly within Victoria but with opportunities to work on projects within the broader Asia Pacific region. You will deliver innovative solutions for a range of environmental impact assessment and management projects working collaboratively with our highly regarded multidisciplinary team of Ecologists, Arborists, Engineers, Environmental Planners and Scientists.

Based in our Melbourne office (with work from home options), this role offers full variety of work with no two days being the same. Site investigations, assisting in various scientific fields, preparing environmental impact assessments, environmental management plans, compliance review documentation, project management, developing client relationships and reviewing proposals will all be regular tasks in this role.

Your professional approach and enthusiasm will be key to your future success and we are keen to look at applicants with a background in either EIA, Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Ecology, or Cultural Heritage.

Day to day tasks would involve:

  • Work on a range of large-scale water and transport infrastructure , urban, defence, coastal, industrial, sustainability, resource, energy and waste projects

  • Develop technically robust, practical and commercial solutions to problems

  • Work and collaborate across a multi discipline team of technical specialists

  • Completesite investigations and preparation of environmental/ecological impact assessments, construction/operational/rehabilitation management planning, approvals and compliance reporting documentation

  • Deliver projects with a focus on exceeding client requirements and providing technical excellence

  • Preparation of stakeholder and community engagement strategies and deliver consultation activities

  • Build positive and effective long-term relationships with external clients and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities

  • To be successful for this role you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Environmental Discipline

  • 5 – 15 years industry experience (depending on quality)

  • Previous consulting industry experience undertaking a range of projects preferable (major project delivery experience also highly valued)

  • Advanced skills in report writing

  • Collaborative and solution orientated

  • Use of initiative to solve problems and assist your colleagues and clients in providing high quality advice and deliverables

  • Great communication skills and a commitment to building and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Commitment to self-development to advance skills and career opportunities

  • Ability to perform solo work and represent Stantec in a professional and courteous manner.

  • A current drivers licence
