Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

This is an opportunity to join a top-notch Video Signal Processing Design Team with Renesas’ Central Engineering Business Unit. You will be part of a very skilled group of engineers who have built several dozen ICs in mass production and are helping build world class video products that will power tomorrow’s automotive and high-speed video solutions.

You will design complex chips that includes various analog and digital control circuitry and work very closely with all aspects of chip design – from writing specifications to developing tests for mass production. You will work closely with the digital design team for design integration, as well as the applications and test engineering team for validating and testing your on-chip solutions; also on high-speed analog circuit design, existing and emerging standards such as MIPI, LVDS.

You will be tasked with designing circuits like PLLs, DACs, ADCs, comparators, serializers, de-serializers, and much more, and you will have an opportunity to work on new designs, develop new standards, and shape the company’s pathway for success.

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities will be a mix of the following:

  • Designing analog circuits that meet timing, area, power, and any adhering standards specifications

  • Running block and top-level simulations

  • Taking care of timing and layout considerations for interfacing analog and digital blocks

  • Working closely with layout engineers and supervising their work to generate a circuit layout that not only works well for the overall chip but is something you can be proud of

  • Running parasitic extracted simulations and making sure the designed circuit is robust and meets design parameters across corners

  • Working with analog and digital design and verification engineers to come up with complex test scenarios for pre-silicon verification

  • Developing AMS, SystemVerilog, or Verilog-real behavioral model for your circuit and working with the verification team to ensure the IP is verified completely

  • Working closely with test engineering to help develop test programs that thoroughly test key parameters of your circuit for mass production

  • Developing detailed design documents, and compliance matrix and helping write chip-level documents and collateral

  • Holding and participating in key design reviews and completion of various checklists

Qualifications

  • Education: BSEE required (MSEE preferred)

  • 5-15+ Years’ experience in CMOS/BICMOS/BCD analog circuit design, preferably high-speed circuit design.

  • Job leveling will depend on the candidate's experience.

  • Experience with 40nm, 28nm, and lower geometries is a plus.

  • Must have proven design experience with at least a few of the following designs / IPs:

  • PLLs

  • Frequency multipliers

  • SerDes design blocks

  • A/D & D/A Converters

  • Oscillators

  • Bandgap reference circuits,

  • LDOs

  • Must be comfortable working in the lab and handling lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators for debug and take measurements

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and good communication skills

  • Adequate knowledge of Mixed-Signal Cadence tools and methodology for parasitic-extraction simulation, I/R Drop analysis using industry standard tools is required.

  • Working knowledge of revision control tools such as SOS, SVN is a plus

  • Working knowledge of Verilog, SystemVeriloog, Verilog-AMS is a plus.

  • Knowledge of existing and upcoming video standards such as MIPI, LVDS, HDMI, DisplayPort is a definite plus

  • Must have good written and verbal cross-functional communication skills

  • Have an analytical mind - be open to persuasion and have the capability to persuade others.

Additional Information

The expected annual pay range for this position is $185K-$277K. This position is also eligible for STI bonus opportunities and commission pay. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
