Florida Department of Children & Families - Children’s Legal Services Program

We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to work in our Children's Legal Services Division, a premier statewide law firm. This is an excellent opportunity to work among an elite group of dedicated legal child advocates to ensure justice for the children of Florida.

Description: This is a high-level administrative position that provides support to a team of paralegals and attorneys assigned to our Children’s Legal Services program by conducting research, preparing reports, handling information requests, assisting with program management, assisting constituents, and performing administrative and clerical functions. The work is challenging but incredibly rewarding.

Location: Sarasota County. Applicants interested in working in counties/cities other than Sarasota County will need to apply for positions advertised for those specific areas on the People First System.

Annual Salary: $32,760.00. Internal salary appointments are determined according to DCF Salary policy.

    Job Responsibilities/Examples of Work May Include:

  • Scheduling meetings and appointments;

  • Answering questions and providing information about policies and procedures;

  • Receiving, processing, and tracking correspondence, mail, and work assignments;

  • Establishing and maintain records, filing systems, and logs;

  • Researching special projects for CLS regional and circuit leadership;

  • Preparing and monitoring reports for program duties and special projects;

  • Composing and distributing correspondence, reports, and forms;

  • Coordinating with CLS regional and circuit leadership to monitor budget activity;

  • Preparing purchase requisitions;

  • Maintaining equipment inventory;

  • Preparing travel reimbursement requests and clearing Purchasing Card charges; and

  • Engaging in cross-training of other administrative support.

    Minimum Requirements :

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Knowledge of office professionalism and practices.

  • Computer experience, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

  • Ability to use copying and fax machine.

  • Ability to organize files and other records.

  • Ability to enter data in records management systems.

  • Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner.

  • Prior experience working in a legal office preferred.

  • Ability to speak/read/write Spanish/Creole/French or other foreign language may be considered in the selection process as determined by Agency need at time of interview.
