Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed’s Materials Group is seeking a Tool Installation and Ramp Equipment Engineer with extensive tool install experience and skills associated with interfacing with facilities, tool and process owners, and tool vendors. Experience needed spans from generating tool cut sheets, TUMs, working closely with the team generating construction documents: IFRs, IFCs and P&IDs, and using those documents to get a tool installed, in addition to experience driving 3rd Party QA/QC activities. The person in this role will be the go-to person whenever the trades have an installation question. Experience with MOCs and SL1, SL2 and SL3 documents is required. This person will be expected to understand all the details needed to get a tool off the truck, place it on the factory floor, interface it to facilities, and perform initial start-up with vendors. This person will be physically present for all these activities, because you will own this tool and will have the ultimate responsibility of bringing tools to the ready so you can then transfer them to manufacturing and process.  Performing these activities requires you to anticipate problems and have A, B and C solutions ready to go before the problem even arises.

This role will initially train at our Durham, NC location but will move to the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide located in Chatham County, NC.

The Day-to-Day

  • Responsible for 10-20 tools somewhere along the tool install process line on any given day; You will be responsible in keeping them all moving.

  • You will be fully responsible for a tool from the time it arrives on-site. Riggers may be moving the tool, but you own it. You will spend quality (and quantity) time on the loading dock.

  • Translating tool installation documents (along with calls to vendors) into cut sheets.

  • Reviewing IFRs, IFCs and P&IDS, making corrections, and working closely with those generating those documents in order to get them fully aligned to your cut sheet.

  • Driving third Party QA/QC inspections.

  • Working with EHS in support of SL1, SL2 and SL3 documents in order to ready the tool for vendor start up. Also generating MOCs for all tools you are responsible for.

  • Coordination and collaborating with tool vendors to start up tools/equipment.

  • Use of test and diagnostic test equipment (both off the shelf and those designed and fabricated by you) to perform analysis of equipment readiness.
