THOR Solutions, LLC Network Engineer in Virginia Beach, Virginia

THOR Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to join a US Navy cybersecurity contract at NSWCDD Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, VA. An idea candidate will have significant experience as a Network Security Engineer, Vulnerability Assessment Analyst, or similar in a US Navy/DoD environment.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Support USN activities on cybersecurity postures from creation to sunset of elected systems.

  • Perform STIG vulnerabilities.

  • Scan the systems under their purview.

  • Configure and maintain Cisco devices.

  • Troubleshoot the networks under their purview.

  • Utilize packet analyzers.

Location: Onsite at Dam Neck Naval Base in Virginia Beach, VA. 

US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Existing TOP SECRET/SCI Security Clearance Required: This position requires a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance to be considered.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Relevant technical diploma, military school diploma, or undergraduate degree.

  • Must qualify for Cybersecurity Workforce position 541 Vulnerability Assessment Analyst (https://www.cool.osd.mil/usn/cswf/matrix.html?moc=cswf_vaa_541) at the Advanced level. Typically, this met through possessing at least one of the following certifications, NECs, or enlisted trainings. Proof of active/current certification/course will be required during the hiring process.

  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Officer (CISSO)

  • Certified Penetration Testing Engineer (CPTE)

  • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)

  • CyberSec First Responder (CFR)

  • Federal IT Security Professional-Auditor-NG (FITSP-A-NG)

  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)

  • GIAC Certified Penetration Tester (GPEN)

  • GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA)

  • GIAC Systems and Network Auditor (GSNA)

  • Rocheston Certified Cybersecurity Engineer (CCE)

  • NEC 741A Information System Security Manager

  • NEC 742A Network Security Vulnerability Technician

  • NEC H08A Advanced Network Analyst

  • At least five (5) years’ experience in Network Engineering in a US Navy/DoD environment. Experience shall include:

  • Performing STIG implementation.

  • Performing vulnerability assessments with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool.

  • Configuring Cisco networking devices.

  • Utilizing packet analyzer tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.

  • Troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
