The UK Safran Electrical & Power team has expertise in designing and developing electrical systems comprising generators, power conversion, distribution and control, with developing expertise in electric motors for aircraft propulsion.

The Role

As a Senior Product Engineer – Composite Applications at Safran Electrical & Power you will utilise your experience to increase our capability of designing, manufacturing and certifying composite applications. Your skillset will ensure the future of our motor, generation & system requirements. You will deliver robust designs and work packages using Catia and NX CAD software to high tolerances for use in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions, to current and future aerospace industry challenges, on existing and next generation smart motor and power generation technologies.

• Apply industry best practices to create lightweight, durable, and efficient composite components that meet the highest quality standards and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and deliver robust solutions that meet the requirements of electrical motor and generator applications, ensuring the right material choices are coupled to produce the most efficient parts.

• Perform design calculations to complement/justify your design theory, and to support the analysis departments to evaluate and validate your proposals.

• Deliver engineering solutions that meet 'Design to Cost' and 'Design to Manufacture/Assembly' requirements.

• Oversee the development of test plans and testing activities, to verify the performance and durability of the product and of the constituent composite components.

• Work in collaboration with industrialisation engineers, manufacturing engineers and supply chain to ensure efficient and high-quality manufacturing processes.

Job Requirements

We are looking for candidates with a range of skills and experience, but we're also keen to help people grow and develop in this role. If you have some or all of the following, we'd love to hear from you:

• A mechanical, automotive or aeronautical engineering degree or equivalent work

experience.

• Strong experience in applying composite design techniques and principals to products within the aerospace or automotive industries.

• Excellent knowledge of composite manufacturing and assembly processes.

• An understanding of engineering materials and production methods relevant to them.

• Substantial experience of using 3D CAD software – ideally Catia and NX.

• Ability to communicate clearly, through written and verbal means, to all levels within the business and be able to interact easily with other Engineering teams.

• Evidence of written English at interview stage.
