Plant Arrangement is a cross-functional engineering discipline responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight of a technical team of engineers and designers responsible for the systems, structures & components design layout of the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Nuclear Island, Turbine Island and Balance of Plant into the 3D BIM Model. performance and implementation potential of a concept

Job Description

Primary focus areas for Plant Arrangement – Nuclear Island (NI), Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) layout team includes:

  • Development and execution of Plant Layout requirements for BWR Nuclear Island (NI), Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) Systems.

  • Develop Plant Layout Criteria document that establishes the scope, criteria, methodology, interfaces, prioritization and standardization of 3D modeling of the Power Block structures within the CDE.

  • Execution of Layout Programs such as Seismic II/I, Internal/External Hazards, Divisional Separation, O&M, ISI, RAMI, Penetrations and Tolerances.

  • Support Plant 3D and Revit tool deployment and execution of engineering deliverables, datasheets and BOQs within CDE.

  • Perform cross-disciplinary reviews (Composite Engineering) of the Nuclear Island (NI), Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP) in 3D BIM CDE.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership on optimized layout & arrangement of Plant Structures, Systems and Components within the Nuclear Island (NI), Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP), including arrangement for BWR Outage Planning, Turbine Generator Equipment, Condenser and Radwaste Systems.

  • Evaluate plant layout equipment & components for adequate accessibility for operations and maintenance (O&M), and in-service inspections (ISI), including allocation of pull out/ lay down space.

  • Perform systematic plant layout reviews with Plant, System & Component Design teams to ensure Plant, System and Component level design requirements are accurately implemented.

  • Support potential new NPP customers with Power Block Plot Plan, including layout of interconnections with Switchyard, Service Water & Closed Cooling Water Systems.

  • Plan, develop and drive technical initiatives and processes to populate the 3D Model with preliminary design information that alleviates potential future fabrication and construction field non-conformances.

  • Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college.

  • Proven significant experience in an Engineering role.

  • Proven significant experience in designing or maintaining a mechanical system design activities including but not limited to development of process flow diagrams, thermodynamic and heat/fluid flow transfer calculations, engineering specifications, etc.

  • Fluent communication in English and Polish.

Desired Characteristics

  • Broad Mechanical Plant Systems and Components design experience in a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) or Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR).

  • Extensive knowledge of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) or Conventional Power Plant (CPP)utility operations and maintenance.

  • Experience with NPP Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and In-Service Inspection (ISI) requirements.

  • Working knowledge of HVAC, Fire Protection & train divisional separation requirements.

  • Working knowledge of Radiologically Controlled Areas (RCA) and Health Physics (HP) requirements.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate between cross-functional engineering design teams.

  • Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment, manage the demands of multiple tasks and projects, while maintaining an uncompromised commitment to personal and nuclear safety principles.

The site was officially founded in 2007, as GE Gas Power focused engineering organization. Currently the site extends engineering activities for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy in Poland.
