What you’ll do:

  • Line management of employees within Goods-Inwards team, including managing day to day loading of work tasks.

  • Management of PDR’s for the QC Metrology team based in Goods Inward and Despatch areas

  • To act as delegate for the Quality Senior Manager when required.

  • To monitor and validate the Quality of Parts and/or Assemblies and to provide specialist inspection capability across business functions.

  • Act as Quality focal point within Integrated Product Team delivering Quality solutions.

  • Responsible for local Quality Management System compliance and improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Line management of Quality Control Inspectors including tasking, performance management, and recruitment within the QC Metrology team.

  • Perform Goods Inwards product quality & supporting paperwork checks (CofC, Purchase Order et cetera) in accordance with business processes (CCP & PFC’s). Evaluate conformance to Engineering requirements.

  • Inspect partial Assemblies to Engineering requirements.

  • Raise NCRs for non conforming product detected at the goods-in stage and support production detected non conformities when required

  • Provide ad-hoc business support against specific demand for Inspection/measurement of product where required

  • Liaise with Suppliers and Manufacturing staff to help resolve queries when required

  • Review completed supplier generated FAI’s and Grade 1 part control plans and amend MRP and Visual FAIR systems accordingly

  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers and Quality Engineering where appropriate

  • Perform sample product audits of Ship to Stock parts

  • Support the internal Calibration programme for measurement equipment

  • Complete or support part investigations and measurement for Engineering and Business teams.

  • Co-operate with management to meet the employer’s legal duties and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions

Qualifications:

  • HNC or equivalent experience

  • Good working knowledge of Quality Standards such as AS9100 and AS9102

  • Working knowledge of PPAP, FAIR, MSA, Control and Inspection Plans

  • CMM trained programmer level using 3D models

  • Metrology knowledge

Skills:

  • Track record of managing a team in some capacity.

  • Proven background in Quality Control and thorough understanding of Quality tools Familiar with general inspection techniques and their appropriate selection

  • Familiar with AS9100 & AS9102 FAIR requirements

  • Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings and 3D models: including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Able to manage the balance between Independence and willingness to re-assess when new data/information available.

  • Familiar with non conformance processes

  • Ability to interact with Suppliers and Internal Customers

  • Ability to programme, operate and interrogate CMM reports

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office packages
