Cook Medical Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Winston Salem, North Carolina

Overview

The primary function of this position is to serve as a leader responsible for providing technical assistance in solving engineering problems, planning for and executing process improvements, providing feedback to team members on project scope and planning, and/or having extensive historical knowledge of the products manufactured by Cook Winston Salem.

Responsibilities

A senior engineer must display advanced competencies in two or more of the following areas:- Proven ability to independently lead large scale and/or high priority process change projects- Consistently serves as a technical resource for product modifications involving process improvements.- Provides constructive input to team members on process changes, prototype tooling, test method development, project timelines, risks, and risk mitigations- Strong data analysis skills demonstrated by methodically collecting and analyzing data and the ability to make data driven decisions- Ability to serve as a mentor to other engineers within the department by using demonstrated analytical skills and/or extensive historical knowledge of products to provide input on process improvements.

Within this role, the Senior Engineer is expected to perform the following tasks:- Use problem solving skills to determine causes and potential effective solutions.- Work collaboratively on cross functional team to plan and execute projects.- Rely on past experience to foresee and mitigate risk in project planning and execution- Communicate feedback to team members in a clear, concise, and positive manner- Must strictly adhere to safety requirements- Maintain regular and punctual attendance- Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for othersthroughout various levels of the global organization- Review and where appropriate, approve documents

Qualifications

  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or- MS in same with 3 years relevant experience; or- BS degree in same with 5 years relevant experience- Comprehensive knowledge of medical device quality and regulatory systems

  • Self motivated and able to work independently- Proven problem solving skills and ability to reason through complex problems- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Has some experience in mentoring and training new employees

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Approximately 90% of the time is spent in a normal office environment requiring sitting and moving around the building, or in a "clean" environment Production setting requiring protective clothing and safety glasses. No more than 10% of the time is spent in travel to various suppliers, hospitals, and physicians’ offices.
