About the Opportunity

We are looking for talented people to join our Surveying and Reality Capture (Geomatics) team to continue our focus on building relationships and delighting our clients (90% of our business is repeat business). Our current challenges include a significant portfolio of infrastructure projects for National Highways and the EA with many more opportunities in the pipeline. So, would you like to be a member of our Geomatics team?

We are seeking individuals to support the expansion of our Survey and Reality Capture expertise within the UK Geomatics business. We particularly need experienced staff to develop our business and require Land Surveyors based in our Reading and London Offices who will be involved in carrying out topographical/Laser Scanning/Deformation Monitoring surveys for various engineering projects in the market sectors of Highways, Railways, Environmental, Utilities, Airports, Buildings, Industrial Manufacture and Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with other members of the Geomatics team to allocate appropriate staff and equipment resources to enable work to be delivered to time, budget and quality.

  • Communication of project related issues to the Geomatics Project Manager.

  • Assistance and input into the preparation of estimates for projects.

  • Monitoring and reporting of progress to the Project Manager.

  • Mentoring of Graduate Land Surveyors and Assistant Land Surveyors to identify training requirements.

  • Checking of surveys using robust Quality Assurance Procedures prior to verification by a nominated checker.

  • Production of survey drawings and reports.

  • Production of Method Statements and Risk Assessments, ensuring safe working practices are followed on site.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Land Survey or Geomatics.

  • Relevant work experience which demonstrates applied knowledge of land survey procedures.

  • Experience in using industry standard survey equipment and processing software.

  • You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and a desire to work within, a range of Geomatics disciplines, including Topographic, Measured Building, Hydrographic, Deformation, and Laser Scanning survey.

  • You will be keen to work within a range of environments including the Highways, Rail, Environmental, Energy and Property sectors.

  • You will need to have a full UK driving licence as the role will involve travel to site locations Flexibility is required and you must be prepared to spend time on site away from the regional office.

  • Membership of a Chartered Institute or the aim to work towards professional accreditation is desirable. Project management abilities, leadership skills and commercial awareness would be beneficial.

  • Experience of surveying with Leica or Trimble equipment, LSS or SCC software, and Terrestrial Laser Scanning, would also be advantageous.
